If you or someone you love feels a cold or flu coming on, it’s time to use the Wet Sock Treatment. The Wet Sock Treatment is a natural remedy to help kick the auto immune system into overdrive to fight off the upcoming cold.
So what is the Wet Sock treatment? It may sound ridiculous, but believe me, it works!
First, you are going to start out by getting two pairs of socks. One of the pairs of socks should be 100% cotton, and the other socks needs to be wool. Now, place the cotton socks in a bowl of water, or run water over the socks. Make sure the socks are very wet, and then wring them out so they are not dripping. Now it’s time to place these socks in the freezer. Next, it’s time to soak your feet in a very hot Epsom salt bath. Make sure the water is nice and hot and give yourself 10-15 minutes of soaking time. Please be sure not to skip this step! It’s very important that your feet are very warm before putting on the cold socks.
Next, it’s time to get your socks out of the freezer and put them on your feet. Immediately cover your cold cotton socks with your dry wool socks. Put on two sets of pajamas (layers will help you to create body heat) and climb into bed. Be sure you have lots of blankets on your bed so you can avoid chilling throughout the night. Get some rest. Leave a second set of pajamas next to your bed. If you wake up drenched in sweat throughout the night, change into the dry pajamas but leave both pairs of socks on all night.
Wait, whaaaaaattttttt???? Ok, I know this isn’t your typical treatment for a cold but the science behind it makes sense. The thinking behind this treatment, is that your body will react to the cold socks by increasing blood circulation to warm your feet, and this also stimulates the immune system.
